The DSCHX10v Sony - purchased to support the field operations that require GPS with image documentation, as well as action litigation. The camera was purchased with that in mind. The picture quality is great, and many features, but the User Manual is basically worthless; internal menu is extensive and in-camera submenues not user friendly and you have to rely on discovery rather than guideance to find what you need. The PlayMemoriesHome difficult to get the software to download it does not only happen to "click" as another brand of camera I used. Once downloaded you find it's not the latest version and you need and have to download the Expanded Version to get the edit function you need. But now it will not download at all, only an error message. Sony Technical Support much help - user manual and a valuable basis except for the base. The learning curve is too expensive with this camera, I'm considering returning if I can not use the edit function I need.It took a phone call to other users to find out how to turn the GPS ON, then you must initialize all the settings just to turn the GPS off. No explation in the manual. I need to have the GPS data is incorporated in the printed image - so far unable to find a way to do it. You do not need to create a Web Page Chat room to use this camera for basic functions. If not for image quality and optics, I would rate this camera Star One.Don in WyomingI bought this camera to use one and a half days now.The first day:-I know that it has no manual focus as hx9v-I played around with effects that are not as impressive as my old canon.-I tried the zoom is fantastic. I used to read the pages of books at home.-I tried to flash which is also fantastic. Somehow reach all the way in a dark room for two more pages to read a book.-Pretty easy to use. I think I'll get used to the controls pretty quickly.Day two:-I went to try out video and voice features.-Turn the sound is not too hard but it was accepted.-I went to move the video to my computer to hear them better ... The camera was not found on computer ... Uh, what? I tried another computer. Same problem. I went to the trouble shooting and change this setting indicates change. Still not working. I google the problem. There is no solution. I tried again and again and again. I plug the usb into the battery charger. It will not charge. The same error message I get when connecting to a computer. The camera says something like: usb connect ... check the connected device. Then never connects. I charged it the day before and the images are transferred without problems. So, why would not it work now? I then tried to insert my memory card in the camera to get my films but they do not appear on camera. So ... here we are. Can find a solution I plan to re-buy this camera ... I may replace it with the same type or can I get manual focus I was looking for. It's my fault for assuming 10v and 9v were similar, but ... it's still a bit disappointing. Oh well. but this camera has its advantages:Major advantages:-Zoom (fadjfasijdfkg fantastic)-Flash (Surprisingly good)-Some of the coolest features (Smile shutter, miniature effects, etc. Nothing too unique, though)-Clear picture-Pretty good autofocusDetailed drawingsMajor Cons:- ... Mine broke on the second day ...-There is a manual :/ con depending on what you're looking for-Some of the pictures come out blurry-Some effects are not the best. (For example, B & W HDR feature makes all the guys I took the pictures look like they are crazy senior citizens with disabilities with a soft leather features pretty scary, too ..)-Picture to see a higher quality than they appear on the camera when it is transferred to the computer.Watched C-Net review and read the Amazon reviews and there are quite a lot of mention of simplicity. Simple to so many features? Yes. But for the average guy like me who never took the time to read the manual and do things through trial and error. I would recommend spending a little time to understand the different functions. This will make for a better experience with fewer errors. Great camera, took some hard shots on the move. I am amazed that a camera pics. Taking pictures of moving seaplanes and boats bobbing with almost no blurry shots. The camera works great. Panorama function is awesome. Have not noticed any problems with the color is not right for some people.I give four stars mostly for the design. Above the flash pops up when you hold the camera. Of course, my fingers are always on it. The big screen at the back is nice, but if you drop the camera right on the corner no one will protect it from cracking. And finally, despite all the Cyber-shot has the same dial, my fingers struggled to press the middle right. In addition. The camera has image size lebbesar!
